This year's Complete Demolition Golf Day was another success and even the initial bad weather didn't dampen the spirits of the 70 golfers. After coffee and bacon rolls, clubs cleaned and collection of goody bags everyone headed out to the green for a shotgun start.
Individual and team competitions were ongoing during the day; this ensured the event catered for golfers of all skill levels and was both competitive and fun! Prizes included 'win a min' for a hole in one alongside nearest the pin and longest and shortest drives! It was Complete Demolition's team captained by (an embarrassed) Gary Robinson who bagged the plaque and the 1st prize with an impressive score of 89 points. However, with true dignity Gary retained his plaque but handed the prizes over to the 2nd team "Team Reem". It is also the first year that an individual score was awarded, which went to Steve Reid from Eric Wright Construction who claimed his Bushnell Range Finder Prize.
The day continued when an additional 50 guests joined the golfers to celebrate late into the night. After a formal meal the guests were entertained by a comedian with the evening being rounded off with music by Ged Graham. Photography to be found at www.completedemolitiongolfday2011.shutterfly.com

- Complete Diverts 100% from Landfill
- 27/09/2011
- Complete Demolition will be diverting 100% of their local
demolition waste away from landfill. The company will
become the first in the area to recycle 100% of local
demolition waste. Complete Demolition is a business that
has always been conscious of its environmental and social
responsibilities. Health, Safety & Environmental Director
Lynda Robinson, commented, “Already obtaining high
recycling figures, we have been exploring ways to increase
recycling rates further to see if it is possible to achieve
‘nil landfill’.” She continued,
“Currently the majority of our demolition waste is
recycled; bricks, wood, metal, plasterboards for instance
are easily segregated on site, ready to be reused or
recycled. The difficulty is recycling the small elements of
demolition debris or mixed waste.” To overcome this
problem, Complete Demolition have approached secondary fuel
producer, The Waste Exchange - who have developed the
perfect solution for recycling 100% of demolition waste. As
the only company of its kind in the North West, the newly
formed ‘Waste Exchange’ is capable of
converting ‘residue’ waste, which would have
been destined for landfill, into high-quality flock and
biomass fuel. These secondary fuels will then be used to
power cement kilns. Explaining the new alliance, Lynda
stated that, “we are extremely excited about working
with The Waste Exchange, they provide an ideal solution for
recycling our demolition waste.” She then added,
“As well as helping Complete Demolition reach its
target of ‘nil landfill’. The Waste Exchange is
helping to facilitate a significant reduction in the
reliance on CO2 producing fossil fuels for the
future.” Working for major construction companies
and a number of public sector authorities, Complete
Demolition has already obtained positive feedback from
customers about their latest plans. Lynda commented,
“By becoming ‘nil landfill’ on a number
of our local sites, our customers are pleased that we are
continuing to demonstrate our commitment to the Read more >>
